IWC Patreon FAQ Page
Welcome to the Infinity Wars Classic FAQ
Q: IW, IH, IWC, ICE? These acronyms, Jason. What do they mean?
A: So, we’ve got a few acronyms that might need a bit of an explanation
IW1 = Infinity Wars 1, released on Steam in 2014
IH = Infinity Heroes, currently in closed Beta
IWC = Infinity Wars Classic, currently in prototyping phase
IW2 = Infinity Wars 2, currently in early prototyping
ICE = Infinity Card Engine, the system(s) that IH, IWC and IW2 are built in.
Q: How does our old IW1 collection work?
A: In the IWC Prototype, you’ll get full playsets of every card, regardless of your collection. When we get our accounts collection support set up, you will have the chance to use your rarity based cards, such as gold or platinum versions.
Q: I pre-purchased the IW2 prototype for Classic, do I get anything?
A: All our IW2 prototype backers will have free access to the “Classic Summit” without being Patreon supporters.
Q: What’s the “Classic Summit”?
A: The classic summit is a monthly event where all of our Patreon backers, and IW2 prototype backers have access to the game in an event that will last several hours to begin with, and eventually take place over an entire weekend much later on. The event will also include potential tournaments, feature reveals, live streams and more, so if you can’t decide when you want to play with friends, it’s a great time to play with everyone, with a lot going on.
Q: What are the minimum PC specs?
A: The minimum specs are still in flux due to the early development state of the game, but most machines with a graphics card made in the last 5 years should run it comfortably.
Q: Will IWC be available on Mobile?
A: No. The design for IWC is based solely on working as honestly and as faithfully as we can make it for PC, with all the bug fixes and improvements.
Q: What cards and features are being changed for IWC?
A: Most cards will remain the exact same. There will be some light changes based on cards that aren’t feasible to do in the current Infinity Card Engine. An example we can give is instant resolution effects. They were a source of massive instability, and despite the differences they gave to strategy, we're working on ways to have their choices be more important through slightly different means. The biggest way that’ll change the current meta and game is the Trading Post, where you draw a card for 5 resources, or mulligan a card. We’re looking at lowering the cost, and having it resolved at the end of the turn to balance it out, depending on what feels right.
Q: What card sets are we going to have?
A: We’re almost completed in implementing the core 2013 set, and we’ll be bringing in more as we continue to work on the game. The speed of this will be dependent on our Patreon goals, with more resources meaning more hours spent on IWC and faster development.
Q: What features are implemented already and what's more to come?
A: Most of the core set is implemented, as well as basic zones and effects and a nifty deck builder. 3D battlefields are in. Eventually you’ll see essentially everything from Infinity Wars, with a few minor extras, but our main focus isn’t on new features, but rather perfecting old ones.
Q: Will the game always be supported and accessed through Patreon or will it go F2P?
A: At this stage going forward, we’re staying as a Patreon exclusive to support ongoing development and improvements. Quite simply, if enough of us are happy with the value of two packs for unlimited access to 800+ cards, the servers will always be up and we'll always have funds to continue our game as a service, inclusive if tournaments and player support. If the metrics are looking good for if we were to go to free to play, we’ll consider it at that point.
Q: In the event of bugs or client issues, what can we expect in terms of patches and general support?
A: Support for the game is directly linked to the Patreon goals we hit. We’ll be working away at IWC slowly while we focus on engine-level features, however extra resources will allow us to dedicate devs specifically to IWC content, and even potentially hire some more developers to really snowball everything.
Q: What can we expect in terms of playable game modes?
A: In the early prototypes, we’ll have PvP invite and AI opponents. When play numbers allow, we’ll open up queues. Other game modes, such as ranked and draft are going to require a lot more time, so closer to the full launch of IWC you should start hearing more about these.
Q: Will players only retain access to the game while they are patreon backers (meaning if they stop backing will they retain access)?
A: Currently, you’ll only receive on-going access for on-going contributions.
Q: Can we stream the IW Classic prototype?
A: Yes, streaming and video content is totally allowed. Just be sure to keep in mind that the game is currently in a Prototype stage, so try not to rip us to shreds before the game is closer to complete.
Q: What is the UI design based off of, IW1 or IH?
A: What you’ll be seeing will be a close representation, if not identical recreations of the battlefield you’re used to seeing in IW1, but presented through the framework of the Infinity Card Engine. Some buttons might be in slightly different locations, and some menus might look different, but they’ll work a lot more consistently than the old ones did.
Q: For those hesitant to give LM money without seeing the product, how will you be showing off IWC to convince them/us that the game is worth the $$?
A: When the game is in a bit more of a refined state, around the launch of the IWC Patreon, you’ll be seeing video content and live streams, perfect to help you make up your mind on whether you think we’re moving in the right direction or not.
Q: What perks will we have for backing, and at what prices?
A: It all starts with access to the game inclusive of full card sets and all battlefields as they are coded, both ongoingly or just for a monthly event. Beyond this we also are giving unique cosmetics each month, and a bunch of other bonuses are going to be available. What you see may be subject to change, but this is what we have currently that we’re happy with and hope you are too.
