Patch Preview: History! Alpha v0.6
Welcome to the October Patch Preview! The aim of the Patch preview is to show off some of our best changes or upcoming features to the newest builds of Infinity Heroes, almost as a TL;DR summary of what to expect from patches, without the need for full patch notes.
Alpha v0.6 Codename: History
New Features!
In 0.5, we introduced Async mode. It worked…. better than expected, actually, though there’s still some work and bug fixing to be done over the coming months Thanks to everyone who helped stress test and break this new feature. The most prominent addition in 0.6 is the new History and Resolution queues, to make complex and advanced play turns easier to reflect on and understand.
This will make it a lot easier to get some games in the early days of the alpha, as you don’t need people to be online at the same time to VS each other, which also means playing against international players can be done a bit easier, and over the course of a few days. Here’s a small list of everything else that has happened since the previous update:
Brand new AI
With the help of one of our newest team members, we’ve got an AI system that isn’t… just bad now. Interestingly enough, the first draft of the AI system actually had the bot winning 70% of the time, and was truly a challenge, so we’ve done some fine tuning, and given selectable difficulties, so you can either go at it for some fun, or truly test your skills.More Keyword Tooltips
We’ve got a few keywords that are more clearly explained, including a new one making it’s re-debut in this patch, Resist.A whole lot of bug fixes
This has been the biggest focus of the team recently, fixing images not loading correctly sometimes, fixed a lot of async issues, fixed buttons getting stuck, fixed visual bugs from card cycling, fixed a rare desync issue caused by hero powers, and a bunch more.
Who knows History more than anyone else?
It felt right, while adding in a functioning history bar, to also add in a hero who knows more about History than any one else, and perhaps, has taken some time in rewriting history?…
Ju-Lin, The Chronicler
“History isn’t written by the victors… it’s written by me.”
Ju-Lin enters the battle, with his kit bringing in a brand new win condition. If you can activate his hero power enough times in a row, you win. Can you put enough resources into this strategy? Or will you fall short?
More coming soon ™
We’ve got more classics to bring out, as well as some new interesting designs for heroes that will give you a ton of options with how you want to approach your battles.
Also, some content
We’re pretty behind on our InfinityCast series episode 3, due to GamesCom stealing our Creative Director, and an unknown audio issue showing up on our brand new equipment, but we’ll talk about that below.
Hero Spotlight: Lucca
Our favorite Combat Mechanic returns to Infinity Heroes, with a very supportive, buffing play style old IW players will find familiar.
We also have the Candit Hero Spotlight that is almost ready for release, but needs a few minor additions, changes and touch ups before we release it. You can see a beta cut of the Candit Spotlight in the InfinityCast episode 3, just below.
InfinityCast #3
Included, we show off a new team member of ours, premiere the beta version of the Candit Hero Spotlight, talk about the IH Roadmap, and an idea we want to tackle regarding IW, and our slow process to bring it back to something worth playing for hours on end again.
After episode 1, episode 2 saw a HUGE increase in audio quality, which is super exciting, however episode 3 is a bit of a step back. A weird popping and crackling was in the core audio files, and after spending hours attempting to fix it ( as a non-audio engineering person ) a LOT has been cleared up, but some static pops still remain. And, Agent Coyle’s microphone seemed to be having a bit of a hissy fit regarding it’s levels & volume, so we’ll get this fixed up soon too, hopefully episode 4 returns to the high quality we’re aiming for.
Dev Showmatch #2
Another Dev Showmatch where Jason takes on Reuben to show off some of our newer Infinity Heroes characters. A lot less glitchy than episode 1, and plenty of revenge to be had.
Alpha Patch 0.6: History will be available on the 26th of October. It will very likely be the final Alpha patch we launch before moving towards our closed beta period, so all of our Beta level backers can get into the game and experience what we’ve been up to.
